My Paper Pumpkin #6

Hi!

It's been a while since I've posted about a My Paper Pumpkin project!  In case you haven't heard of it, My Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription box by Stampin' Up that includes everything you need to make a craft!  Many times it's a set of cards, but there have also been goody bags, gift boxes, and other fun things.  The kit I made last week was so cute!

This box included everything you need to make eight thank you cards with envelopes:

A cute set of clear stamps
Two ink pads (Pool Party and Daffodil Delight)

Pre-scored cards
Pre-scored envelopes
Eight sets of "Thanks" felt stickers
Adhesive strips
Bakers twine

The first thing I did was stamp each of the cards, which are long strips of white cardstock that you end up folding like an accordion.

You use the clear stamps in the kit (used with the clear block that comes with your very first My Paper Pumpkin box) to make a cute pattern on each section of each card!  I did the same patterns on each card, four starting with blue ink and four starting with yellow.

It was easier to stamp them when they were laying flat, so after I stamped them and I knew they were dry (which is pretty much right away), I folded them like an accordion.

Then I stamped the "I just wanted to say..." on the first section of each card, using yellow ink on the blue triangles and blue on the yellow triangles!

Next I spelled out "Thanks" with the felt stickers on the next six sections of each cards.

The stickers were so fun!  I'll have to think of something cute to make with the outlines of the letters!

Next I stamped some designs on the envelopes.

Clear stamps are so fun because you can see exactly where you're stamping and line things up perfectly!

Then I used the adhesive strips to put the envelopes together.

Once they're put together, the envelopes are wide enough so the cards, which are thick because of the felt letters, fit in the envelopes perfectly.

The last step is to cut a 27" piece of string to wrap around the envelope twice and tie in a bow!

I loved this project and can't wait to use these adorable thank you cards!

If you love crafts, kits, cards, stamping, and getting a super fun box in the mail once a month that includes everything you need to make a very cute project, you will love My Paper Pumpkin!  Leave a comment with any questions you have about it!

Vaccinations and Vegetables

Hello!

Today we got our flu shots!  Well, Alex did, and I got the nasal spray :)  We went to Target instead of Walgreens (because they have a PARKING LOT!  Who knew that was something we'd ever have to worry about!) and it was super quick and easy.  We'd never used their clinic/pharmacy before but I think we might start using them because we really liked it and the Walgreens we've been going to is so inconvenient!

We always try to eat healthy but this week I'm doing a thing on Facebook called Clean Eats and Healthy Treats that a friend from high school set up!  She is a Beachbody Coach and she made this group for people to try for free for a week.  It's basically just trying not to eat white foods, don't drink soda (which I don't anyway), and eat lots of fruit and veggies!  I've been eating oatmeal with fruit for breakfast everyday, which is so easy and yummy!  I've been eating more fruits and vegetables (I've been hooked on avocado for a few weeks!), I haven't been eating bread or snacking on things like tortilla chips and pretzels, and I haven't really had any sweets!

Tonight we had omelets!  It was my first time making them and they were good!  When I worked at the Arizona Inn, I watched a lot of omelet stations at different banquet events, so I tried to use what I learned from that :)

Tomatoes, avocado, and cheese!

We've gotten a ton of rain tonight!  That's been nice :)  It warmed up our apartment a little bit which I don't mind.  Hopefully the leak near our window doesn't leak more...we heard people on the roof the other day so I think they fixed it from the outside.  We're prepared with towels and bowl just in case, though!

Well, my computer is acting weird and I want to read more so that's all for now!  Tomorrow I'm going to post about the really cute Halloween project kit I got in my Paper Pumpkin last month!

House of Cards, Apartment of Subscription Boxes

Hello!

I got a lot of very fun mail today - three subscription boxes!  Woohoo :)  I got my super cute Birchbox (just finished my first year as a BB subscriber!), my first Bulubox (of three -  I had a Living Social deal to try three months of it), and my Stampin' Up box called Paper Pumpkin!  I got great stuff in my Birchbox that I can't wait to try (and write about here!), the project in the Paper Pumpkin is Halloween-y and soo cute (I will def post pics here of them, too), and I got some interesting things to try in my Bulubox.

The pic is a little blurry, but I was just in a hurry to open everything :)

At the Washington Monument, which is a few blocks down the street from our apartment, they were filming scenes for House of Cards today!  Of course I had to walk down there and see what was happening!  I didn't see any actors from the show, but there were big hair and makeup trailers, food trucks for the crew (who were all over the place), tents with snack tables, people in suits with earpieces, dressed-up men taking breaks drinking wine and smoking cigars, etc.  It was fun to just hang around even though I didn't actually see very much happen.  I just can't imagine how much goes into a scene that may only be a couple of minutes long!

I guess some of the scenes filmed there are supposed to be in NY since they brought that NYPD car!  They towed the black car there while I was watching.  Exciting!  They film Veep in Baltimore, too, so next I'll have to find them :)

Alex and I went to another great yoga class tonight!  I made the Loaded Cauliflower recipe again and it was yummy, again!
