Abby and Austin Come to Baltimore!

Hello!

Last week Alex's sister Abby and her boyfriend Austin came to visit us during their spring break!  First they spent a few days in Philadelphia with Alex and Abby's aunt and uncle, and on Tuesday we drove there to have dinner with everybody and then bring A & A to Baltimore!  We had such a great time with them.

On Tuesday we went to Washington DC and visited the National Air and Space Museum which was really cool!  Austin and I had never been there and it had been a while since Alex and Abby had gone, so I'm really glad we got to go!

There were so many fun exhibits!

We also walked around and looked at the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.  It wasn't super cold but it was very windy!!

We rode the train there and back which was really fun and low stress since we didn't have to worry about finding parking, and well, driving!

The next day we went to the National Aquarium here in Baltimore.  That was also very fun!

It wasn't as crowded as the first time we went in October, so that was nice!  There were still tons of crazy kids, but less :)

We ate lunch afterwards at Miss Shirley's and it was very yummy, of course!

It snowed (grr!) and rained on Friday so we stayed inside for most of the day.  Since it's March Madness, there were lots of basketball games on TV!  We did get a chance to walk around our neighborhood a little bit so we could look at the Washington Monument (the first one :) ) down the street and show them some other things along the way.

We watched a lot of good movies while they were here and we got to play a lot of our games (which we normally don't have enough players for!) so that was really fun!

On their last day here, we drove to the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus to go to the bookstore and walk around outside.

Then we had lunch in Fell's Point at Jimmy's, a cute diner that Alex and I discovered a few weeks ago, and we walked around that area and around Hampden a little bit, too!

We had such a fun time with our visitors!

Halloween Moonbot Show

Boo!

***Today, Alex found out that he passed the Maryland Bar Exam!!!!!  I knew that he would but he is so relieved since he got the results!  He took it in July so he has waited a long time to find out!  Woohoo!!!!!!  I'm so proud of him!***

This was before he found out about the Bar, but after getting a nice hair cut!

I hope everybody is having a fun Halloween!  Alex and I just got home a little while ago from my first improv show here!  Charm City Comedy Project had a Halloween party/show tonight!  There were actually two shows but my group was in the first one.  There were five stand-up comedians,  Moonbot (the group I'm in), and another CCCP group called Uncle Awesome.

Here's the poster for tonight!

The show was where auditions were, which is upstairs at a bar called Zissimo's.  The neighborhood where it is, Hampden, was sooo full of families trick-or-treating!  That was so cool!  Our neighborhood doesn't seem to have that many kids, so it was fun to see everybody out getting candy!  Lots of the businesses on "The Avenue" (36th Street where there are tons of shops and restaurants) were sitting outside handing out candy :)

We got there early so we could find parking and we ate at a Mexican restaurant called Holy Frijoles (hahaha we forgot that's what it was called).  It was pretty good but not quite like the Mexican food we're used to eating in Tucson :)

The show was so fun!  The room was decorated with tons of cool Halloween decorations.

Everyone dressed up in fun costumes.  The stand-up and Uncle Awesome were fun to watch and I had fun in our part of the show!  We did a montage - a series of scenes loosely based off of each other and off of audience input - and we had a good time!  We all wore matching skull bracelets, too :)  Alex took lots of great pics!

What a fun Halloween!  We also got our car back from the shop (Alex got rear-ended almost a month ago) so that's good.  Anyway, we're tired!!

SoBo Cafe and Other Fun Things!

Hi!

Alex and I finally had everything we needed plus time to do all the car stuff we needed to do at the MVA (MD's DMV), so we got that over with today!  Yay!

It has been getting colder here!!  This morning it was in the 40s when we drove to the MVA so I bundled up!  Our apartment is 74 right now.  Time for cozy quilts!  Well, it's always time for those.

The other night Alex and I went to dinner at SoBo Cafe.  Alex found it online and made a reservation!  It was soo cute.  It was fancy, with white table cloths, but also kind of cazsh (I can never decide how to spell that) with orange walls and cool art and the staff didn't have uniforms.  Our food was SO good.

They  have lots of different spreads that come with vegetables and crostini so we got the spicy feta one, which had garlic and jalapeno mixed in, for an appetizer.

It was amazing...I probably could have had just that and been good!!  I got the SoBo Burger and Alex got the Chicken Pot Pie.

My burger came with a yummy salad and the best potatoes (roasted fingerling potatoes) I've ever eaten!  Alex's meal came in a bowl and it had the "pie crust" in a big square that they laid on top of it!  He loved it.  For dessert we shared the SoBo Sundae - brownies with ice cream, caramel, candied nuts, and MARSHMALLOW FLUFF.  Yummy!!

We will have to go back again for lunch or brunch!

Tonight Alex and I started watching the show Transparent.  There are ten thirty-minute episodes that were released all at once in September on Amazon Prime.  We watched 3 episodes tonight and we love it!  There are lots of great actors in it and it's just really good so far!

I don't think I ever wrote about this, but on Saturday I went to an open audition that Charm City Comedy Project was holding for their improv groups!  It was really fun, we mostly did short scenes.  The auditions were upstairs in a bar called Zissimo's in Hampden, which is a really cute neighborhood west of JHU's undergraduate campus.  We hadn't been up there yet and it was so nice!  It sort of reminded us of 4th Avenue in Tucson.  We'll have to go back there soon.  Anyway, I found out yesterday that I made it onto one of their improv teams called Moonbot!  I'm excited to get to do improv again and make some friends!  The first rehearsal I'll go to is Sunday.

Gotta go read in bed!  Thanks for reading!
