Last week, Alex was sworn into the Maryland Bar! They had a ceremony at the courthouse in Annapolis, and it was really nice! The people in his specific ceremony were only a fraction of the total amount of people. They held four ceremonies a day, three days in a row!
It was fun because the courthouse streams these events over the internet so people can watch them live from anywhere in the world! They are also recorded and can be watched afterwards. I had forgotten that it was streaming until I got a text from my sister-in-law (and then my mom and mother-in-law, too!) saying that she saw me sitting in the audience!! That was so fun :) I kept waving every once in a while :)
Once the ceremony started, the head judge spoke, then a lawyer gave a speech, and then each candidate stood up and said their full name.
The groups were alphabetical and these were the M names. There were a lot of Millers! Then everybody turned to the right and repeated the oath after the judge.
Here's a creepy picture of just Alex's eyes :) Alex's family got some great pictures while watching the live webcast!
Another judge gave a speech and the main judge gave closing remarks.
When the ceremony was over, the newly-sworn in lawyers went down a floor to sign their name in a book and get their certificates. I took some sneaky pics from a floor up and then we had someone take a pic of both of us outside. It was a fun day!
We got there early to each lunch somewhere in Annapolis, but we weren't sure where to go near the court house. We saw a place called Naval Bagels (the name grossed us out, even though it's not
"navels" haha) and we ended up eating there. It was so yummy! I got a salt bagel with eggs and cheese, and Alex got the same thing on a cinnamon raisin bagel.
I'm so proud of Alex!! He works so hard and I'm happy I got to be at this ceremony to see him get sworn into the bar!
Thanks for reading!
Great pictures of the big day!
